General information about Shimla Package

Shimla is the capital of the northern Indian state of Himachal Pradesh, in the Himalayan foothills. Once the summer capital of British India, it remains the terminus of the narrow-gauge Kalka-Shimla Railway, completed in 1903. It’s also known for the handicraft shops that line The Mall, a pedestrian avenue, as well as the Lakkar Bazaar, a market specializing in wooden toys and crafts.

Arrival at Delhi and travel for Shimla- Shimla- Queen of Hill Stations surrounded by forests of pine, oak, and rhododendron. Day 2

After a leisurely breakfast, make your way to the Indian Institute of Advanced Studies, for a glimpse of one of British India’s most stunning creations. The Viceregal Lodge, also known as Rashtrapati Niwas, has been the official summer residence of the President of India. Then we will visit The Viceregal Lodge The construction of this Elizabethan building, designed by Henry Erwin, was completed in 1888 and the then Viceroy, the Earl of Dufferin was the first resident. Today you can find many articles and photographs from the times of the British Raj here. This is where the historic Shimla Conference in 1945 took place. The building is magnificent; but even more beautiful is the lush green lawns and wooded estate that the lodge is housed in.
