Well, there is really no best time to visit Shimla, as you can visit it all the year round. Sounds great!
But even though you have the option of visiting it any time of the year, preferably we would like you to visit in the months of summer and spring and if at all you can bear with the cold weather and snow then definitely you can visit in the month of December.
During the summer and the spring the weather is awesome and pleasant and it is worth visiting the place. If you are planning to go in the month of December then maybe it won’t be a good idea altogether as there are not much of adventure activities which take place such as paragliding, rafting and trekking.
So when is actually the best time to visit in Shimla?
The spring summer-
This time of the year is simply perfect as the temperature cools off and it is worth exploring the different places here. The melting snow leaves a green terrain and a peaceful atmosphere and photography like canvas. It is the perfect time for carrying out all the adventure activities such as paragliding, trekking, hiking, and camping. You will also get to see the local festivals here and see how the localities celebrate them.
Shimla in Monsoon-
Not such a great time to visit as the region is quite prone to frequent landslides. It is an off season for sure and the rates for accommodation and other expenses drop down drastically but it is a heavily risky season to visit. The temperature is between 14 degree Celsius and 20 degree Celsius.
You will also get to the see the Rhyali festival.
Shimla in the winters-
One of the best times to visit in shimla in the winters you will get to see the cascading snow and white sheets all round. It is a great time to see the city landscape and observe the natural surroundings. The Shimla Winter Carnival is also worth visiting and the ice skating festival also.
However in the winters it is also a worth time to explore the city scapes and have a walk around the city.
Shimla packages typically start at around 5000/- onwards and depend on the type of package you want.
